Richard Smith Master of Arts Commissary and Walter Farquhar
Hook Clerk Doctor of Divinity Official in and through that part of
the Archdeaconry of St Albans which was heretofore in the Archdeaconry
of Huntingdon both lawfully constituted To our beloved in Christ
The Reverend Thomas Rawson Birks of Kelshall in the County
of Hertford Clerk Greening whereas William Hagger late of
Kelshall aforesaid in the part aforesaid Victualler lately
died Intestate leaving Mary Hagger his Widow and Relict Now
we do hereby empower you the said Thomas Rawson Birks
to swear the said Mary Hagger as Administratrix of the goods
chattels rights and credits of the said Deceased to the truth of the
Allegation hereunto annexed and to see the Bond also hereunto
annexed signed sealed and delivered by her and by two sufficient
Sureties And further to do in the premises what shall be needful
you transmitting to us or our Surrogate the proceedings herein
subscribed with your proper handwriting on or before the last day
of August next ensuing together with these Presents Provided
nevertheless that this commission shall be of no effect unless so
transmitted. Given at Hitchin under the Seals of Office the eighth
day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred
and forty eight

This Commission was duly executed and
Mary Hagger the Administratrix was duly
sworn to the truth of the annexed Allegation
and with the Sureties in the annexed Bond
executed the same this twelfth day of
July 1848

The twelfth day of July 1848
On which day personally appeared
Mary Hagger of Kelshall in the County of Hertford
Widow and alleged that William Hagger late
of the same place and in that part of the
Archdeaconry of St Albans which was lately
in the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon Victualler
deceased lately died Intestate Wherefore the
said Mary Hagger prayed that Administration
of all and singular the goods chattels and credits
of the said deceased might be committed to
her as the Widow and Relict of the said
deceased And the said Mary Hagger made
oath that the effects of the said deceased are
under the value of Twenty pounds

Know all men by these presents that we Mary
Hagger of Kelshall in the County of Hertford Widow
and Lavender Hagger the Elder of Kelshall aforesaid
Shoemaker and Lavender Hagger the Younger of Kelshall
aforesaid Blacksmith are held and firmly bound unto Richard
Smith Master of Arts Commissary in the Archdeaconry
of St Albans And also Walter Farquhar Hook Clerk &
Official in the same Archdeaconry both lawfully
constituted in Forty pounds of good and lawful money
of Great Britain to be paid unto the said Commissary
and Official or to their certain Attorney their executors
administrators or assigns to which payment well and
truly to be made We oblige ourselves and each of us
by himself and herself for the whole our and each
and every our heirs executors and administrators
firmly by these Presents Sealed with our seals dated
the twelfth day of July in the eleventh year of the
reign of our Sovereign Lady Queen Victoria by the
Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great
Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith
And in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight
hundred and forty eight

The Condition of the obligation is such that if the
said Mary Hagger Administratrix of all and singular the
goods chattels and credits of William Hagger late of Kelshall
in the County of Hertford and in that part of the
Archdeaconry of St Albans which was lately in the
Archdeaconry of Huntingdon victualler deceased do make or
cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and
singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased
which have or shall come to the hands possession or
knowledge of her the said Mary Hagger or into the hands
and possession of any person or persons for her and the
same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the
Registry of the said Archdeaconry at or before the last day
of August next ensuing and the same goods chattels and
credits and all other the goods chattels and credits of the said
deceased at the time of his death which at any time after
shall come to the hands or possession of the said Mary
Hagger or into the hands or possession of any other person
or persons for her do will and truly administer according to
Law And further do make or cause to be made a true and
just Account of his said Administration at or before the last
