Notes: Patrick Condon was a proud Irish Nationalist, and was the Hon.
Secretary of the Jersey Branch of the Irish National League of Great Britain,
as is shown by his name being on a Tribute
to Vincent Scully, dated 1891. As far as we know, the Irish National
League advocated peaceful political change in Ireland, rather than violence.
Bearing in mind his obvious anti-British stance, it is somewhat ironic that
at least 3 of his sons fought in the British Armed forces in World War 1, one
of whom died (albeit in the aftermath of the War), and another was very severely
injured. And four of his Condon cousins (sons of Uncle Thomas) also enlisted
in the British forces, one of whom also died.
Occupation
1881 Errand Boy (census)
1889 Confectioner (marriage to Phoebe Alice Witt)
1891 Pastrycook & Confectioner (census)
1893 Confectioner (birth of son Gerald Patrick)
1896 Confectioner (birth of son Charles Cunningham)
1901 Insurance Agent (census)
1905 Insurance collector (death certificate)
1916 Insurance Agent, deceased (marriage of son Charles Cunningham)
1924 Insurance Superintendent (death certificate of wife Phoebe Alice)
